The terracotta sculptures in China are a collection of army sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, who is the first emperor of China. It is a form of funerary art buried with the emperor in 210-209BCE to protect the emperor in his afterlife.


Each Terracotta Warrior is unique in its features that are lifelike, made from molds Archeologists believe were built-in an assembly line fashion, with molds of arms, legs, torsos and heads being put together and finished with a customized feature that ensured no two are alike.


Chinese workers digging a well in 1974 made the startling discovery of thousands of life-size Terracotta figures of an army prepared for battle.


Now called the Terracotta Army or Terracotta Warriors. These figures are located in three pits near the city of Xian in China.


Experts estimate that there are more than 8000 soldiers, 130 chariots and 670horses.Every soldier is unique, no two are alike and each has unique and realistic features. There is no human found in the Terracotta sculptures.

 Archeologists have detected that the Terracotta warriors are hollow in the upper body and solid in the powerful part of human remains have never been found inside.


The underground Terracotta army found in the First Emperor’s burial undoubtedly is one of the most remarkable and mysterious discoveries of the ancient world.

2. Hanging Monastery, Mount Hengshan:-

The Hanging Temple, also Hengshan Hanging Temple, Hanging Monastery or Xuankong Temple is a temple built into a cliff near Mount Heng in Hunyuan country, Datong city, Shanxi Province of China.


The Hanging Temple is located about 60 km. from southwest Datong, China. Hanging Monastery is one of the world’s forgotten wonders clinging to a crag of Hengshan Mountain.


According to legend, the construction of the temple was started at the end of the Northern Wei dynasty by only one man, a monk named Liaoran in 491AD.


The architecture of the entire 40 halls are pavilions all built on cliffs, which are 30 meters from the ground. The distance from north to the south is longer than from east to west and it becomes higher and higher from the gate in the south to the north along the mountains.


The hall of three religions mainly enshrines Buddhist deities as well as both Taoism and Confucianism.

The Great Wall of China is the largest man-made project in the world. The complete route is over 21,000 km. stretching from the east seaside to the western desert in northern China.


The Great Wall of China took more than 2000 years to build. Between 770 BC and 1633 AD. Its constructions were completed in stages –spanning several dynasties and leaderships. This project was completed in 1644AD.


There might be an appx.3873, 000,000 individual bricks used to build the Great Wall of China. It would take around 18 months to walk its length.


King Qn. Shi Huang of China took the remnants of ancient fortifications, walls and earthworks and linked them into a unified wall circa 220 BC.


The Great wall is not a single structured wall; it includes beacon towers, barriers, barracks, garrison stations and fortresses along the walls, together forming an integrated defense system.


The Great wall is a massive monument built with different materials. Most of the sections we see today were built with bricks and cut stone blocks and lime mortar was used to hold the bricks together.


Shanghai pass was a fortress built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and is the first pass in the 

East of China. It is located outside of Quinhuangdao City of Bohai Bay and it is 305 km from Beijing. 


Jiayu pass is famous for being the first frontier fortress at the western end of the Great Wall of China in the Ming Dynasty.


The Great Wall of China is the product of countless labors over a period of 2000 years, and it is a feast of engineering. The Great Wall of China reflected the collision and exchanges between the agricultural and nomadic civilizations.


In the Yuan Dynasty (1272-1368) the Jurong pass functioned as a major traffic artery from Beijing to inner Magnolia.


The wall was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1987. Records show that nearly 3,00,000 to 5,00,000 soldiers were assigned to both build and guard the Great Wall, with the help of 4,00,000 to 5,00,000 conscripted laborers used to complete this Great wall of China.

4. Leshan Buddha.:-

The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71-metre tall stone statue. It was built between 713BC to 803 BC.


It is carved out of a cliff face of Cretaceous red bed sandstones that lies at the confluence of the Min River and Dadu River in the southern part of China.


The Leshan Giant Buddha, also known as Lingyun Giant Buddha. It is 71 meters tall. It is 8 meters taller than Bamyan Buddha in Afghanistan.


It took 90 years to carve the Leshan Giant Buddha, this was during the Tang Dynasty. This place is also frequented by Buddhists who pay homage to Maitreya. The site and status are listed as 

UNESCO World Heritage site. 


About 3000sculptors people worked on the statue for 90 years to complete it. It is the biggest carved stone Buddha in the world.


There are some instances; the people believed that the Leshan Buddha cried was in 1962, 1963 & 1976. He showed his happiness in 1994, 2001 and 2002.

5. Mount Wudang:-

Wudang Mountain is also called Taihe Mountain. It is located in Shiyan city in the northwestern Hubei Province of China.

 Wudang Mountain has been famous for its beauty, size and grandeur.So that Wudang Mountain was put into the list of the world cultural Legacy by UNESCO in December-17, 1994.


Mount Wudang covers an area of 321 sq. kilometers, with very beautiful scenery and cultural relics.


 The main tourist resorts include three ponds, nine springs, nine platforms, ten pools, ten stones, eleven caves, thirty-six cliffs and seventy-two peaks.


The ancient buildings in the Wudang Mountains represent the highest standards in Chinese art and architecture over a period of nearly 1000 years.


The Wudang buildings are famous for exercising an enormous development of religious and public art and architecture in China.


The Ancient Building complex reached its apogee during the Mining dynasty, with 9 palaces, 9monasteries, 36nunneries and 72 temples.


Today, 53 ancient buildings and 9 architectural sites survive, including the Golden Shrine and Ancient Bronze Shrine.

Shiboazhai is a hill along the bank of the Yangtze River in Zhong country, Chongqing, China. ShiBaoZhai hill is very extremely steep and is about 200 meters tall.


The Shibozhai looks like a strangely shaped pagoda hugging a hill. The hill is on the bank 

of the Yangtze River which has steep sides. It is about 200 meters tall. On the hill, a three-storey temple was built that looks like it sits on the building structure.


This temple at the top was built-in first about 1750 during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty.


Twelve storeys tall in total, the pavilion houses the first nine leans against a sheer stone bluff, providing access to a second three-storey pavilion that sits on top of it. Climbing through the nine storeys’ to the top will give you excellent views down over the river. 


Shibaozhai temple is famous for its strange buildings and many interesting legends. It was listed as one of the eight singular buildings in the world. It was opening for outside of the world in 1979.

7. Longji Rice Terraces:-

The Cultural Landscape of Honghe Hani Rice Terraces in China covers 16,603 hectares in 

Southern Yunnan. It is marked by spectacular terraces that cascade down the slope of the towering Aiao Mountains to the bank of the Hong River.


The Longji Rice is located in Longsheng Country about 100 kilometers long outside the Guilin.


The word Longji means dragon’s backbone and these rice terraces earned their unusual name because the terraced fields climbing up to the mountains look like dragons.


The terraced fields are built along the slope winding from the riverside up to the top of the mountain. (600 to 800 meter)or (2000 ft to 2600 ft) above the sea level.


A coiling terrace line that starts from the mountains foot up to the top of the mountain divides the mountain into layers of water in spring. Layers of green rice shoot in summer, layers of rice in fall and layers of frost in winter.


Terrace farming was invented by the Inca people who lived in the South American mountains. It is commonly used in ASIA by rice growing countries such as Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia.


These terraced fields were all manmade and were first built the Yuan Dynasty (1271 to 1368).In some cases the terraced fields reach heights of approximately 1100 meters above sea level. It is a UNESCO world heritage site.

The Forbidden City is a place complex in Dongcheng District, Beijing China at the center of the 

Imperial city of Beijing. It is surrounded by numerous opulent imperial gardens and temples, including 54 acres of Zhongshan Park, 171 acres of Beihai Park and 57 acres of Jingshan Park.


The complex consists of 980 buildings, encompassing 8886 rooms and covering 178 acres. For more than 500 years the Forbidden City was the political and ritual center of China.


 After its completion in 1420, the Forbidden The city was home to 24 emperors, their families and servants during the Ming (1368-1644) & the Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.

9. Jiuzaigu National Reserve in Sichuan:-

Jiuzhaigou National Nature Reserve is a world Natural Heritage site of China. Jiuzhaigou is a worlds 

Famous for the natural diversity of beautiful emerald lakes, double waterfalls, colorful forests, snow-capped peaks, and glacier ice are found.


In 1992 this National park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage. The Jiuzhaigou Valley is part of the mountains on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau and stretches over 72000 hectares (1, 80,000 acres).


It is known for its many multi-level waterfalls, colorful lakes and snow-capped peaks.


In the Jiuzhai valleys wildlife includes 27 state-protected rare and endangered species like the the giant panda, golden money, glue, white lip deer, black neck crane, swan, lovebirds, red belly golden pheasant, leopards, forest musk deer and other animals are found.


223 species of bird have been recorded in Jiuzhai Valley National park. Giant pandas lived for several million years. It is one of the oldest animals in the world that has survived to date.


There are 108 no of lakes in the Jiuzhai Valley Nature Reserve. As a result of calcium carbonate, each of these lakes exhibits very charming displays of color, including blue, dark green and crystal clear. It is nearly 720sq. kilometers in the area spread.

The Grand Canal, known to the Chinese as the Jing-Hang Grand Canal, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Hangzhou Beijing canal is the longest artificial canal in the world.


It is 1115 miles from the oldest and longest man-made canal in the world. The Beijing –Hangzhou Grand Canalis are 1794 kilometers. It starts in Beijing in the north and ends at
Hangzhou in the south.


It was during the SuiDynasty that the Grand A canal was built. Emperor Yang of the Sui wanted a quicker and more efficient way of transporting grain to his the capital city of Beijing.


The Grand  canal which was built during the period of the Song dynasty connected the south and
northern Chinese territory.
