1. Glaciers and Icebergs,Greenland: -

TOP 5 BEAUTIFUL NATURAL BEAUTY OF  NATURE WONDERS IN THE EARTH Glaciers and Icebergs, Greenland is no 1 nature wonder.

Where are the glaciers in Greenland located: -The Greenland Ice Sheet isone of two continent-scale ice masses on Earth, with the other the AntarcticIce sheet.

The Greenland Ice sheet is thelargest ice mass in the Northern Hemisphere. It lies from 71-degree Northwardsof the Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean.Almost 80% of Greenland’slandmasses is covered by the ice sheet, expanding an area over 1.7 million

square kilometres. The ice from the centre flowsthrough a series of drainage networks with both outlet glaciers and ice streamsall flowing towards the ocean.Unlike Antarctica, which hasalmost 75% of its coastline by floating ice shelves, Greenland has only two icetongues.

Greenland’s Ice sheet is theworld’s biggest glacier. That is why you will find icebergs all over Greenland.Ice and Iceberg are a natural view in Greenland.

What is an Iceberg: -Generally two types of icebergs. Icebergs and floating ice sheet. Icebergs are very tall and have all kinds of shapes in different time. They are usually in ice, which broke off the Greenland Ice-sheet. Floating Ice sheets on the contrary are made of frozen seawater. This is the Natural Beauty of the wonderful earth.

The evolved Icebergs break off a glacier or the Greenland Ice sheet. They float away from the shore. This type of Iceberg is made of fresh water and you can see it almost anywhere you go in Greenland.

When icebergs lie in the water, they melt and sometimes they hit the seafloor. That can make them turn around and create new smaller icebergs.

When chunks of ice break off, we call it “to calve’. When an iceberg is calving, it means one big iceberg turns into thousands of smaller icebergs and floating ice sheets.

Another type of iceberg is floating ice sheets. They are made of frozen seawater that breaks apart. What happens when it gets warmer during spring or summer or due to a storm.

Icebergs in Greenland can reach up to 300 feet high above sea level. But in fact, 85 to 90% of them are under the surface of the water. When you look at a huge Iceberg, imagine, how much there is still under the water’s surface. You can only see the 10-15% of it.

There are 5 types of Icebergs: –

1. White ice

2. Blue ice

3. Black ice

4. Ice sheet made of saltwater

5. Dirty ice.

90%of the World’s freshwater is located in an around the Antarctic. In the northern hemisphere, it would be Greenland, where the biggest amounts of ice can be found. The Greenland ice sheet is the biggest chunk of ice north of the equator.

The glacier moves 130 feet a day. This glacier can produce more ice, than the amount of water that gets used in New York City in the whole year.

Icebergs are danger for ships travelling, in the North Atlantic. After the Titanic sank near Newfoundland in 1912, the US and other 12 countries formed an international patrol to warn ships of the iceberg in the North Atlantic.

While birds and large animals such as polar bears might visit a glacier a few small, specialized animals are capable of truly living on these massive blocks and snow and ice. These small animals include glacial midges, snow fleas, glacial copepods, rotifers and ice worms are found in this area.

2. Great Barrier Reef ofAustralia:-

The Great Barrier Reef of Australia is the world’s largest coral reef system composed of over 2900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2300 kilometres over an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometres. It is the beautiful nature wonder of the earth. This is the Natural Beauty of the wonderful earth.

The Great Barrier Reef is a site of remarkable variety and beauty on the northeast coast of Australia. It contains the world’s largest collection of coral reefs with 400 types of coral, 1500 species of fish and 4000 types of molluscs.

The Great Barrier Reef is a globally outstanding and significant area of the world. It is the entire ecosystem was inscribed as World Heritage in 1981, covering an area of 348000 square kilometres.

The Great Barrier Reef (GBR)includes extensive cross-shelf diversity, stretching from the low water mark along the mainland coast up to 250 kilometres offshore. This wide depth range vast shallow inshore areas, mid-shelf and outer reefs.

Within GBR there are some 2500 individual reefs of varying size and shapes, and over 900 islands, ranging from sandy cays and larger vegetated cays to large rugged continental islands.

GBR is one of the richest and most complex natural ecosystems on the earth. There are over 1500 species of fish, about 400 species of coral, 4000 species of molluscs and 240species of birds plus a great diversity of sponges, anemones, marine worms, and crustaceans and other species.

GBR is of enormous scientific and intrinsic importance and it is containing a significant number of threatened species.

GBR is very beautiful natural beauty above and below the water. It provides some of the most spectacular scenery on earth. It is one of the few living structures visible from space.

On many of the cays, there are spectacular and globally important breeding colonies of seabirds and marine turtles and Raine Island is the world’s largest green turtle breeding area.

On the ocean surface, there is an abundance and diversity of shapes, sizes and colours, for example, spectacular coral assemblages of hard and soft corals, thousands of species of reef fish provided a myriad of brilliant colours, shapes and sizes.

The Internationally renowned Cod Hole near Lizard Island is one of the very important  tourist attractions for all  over the world.

The GBR, extending 2000 kilometres along with Queensland’s coast, is a globally outstanding example of an ecosystem that evolved over millennia.

Today GBR forms the world’s largest coral reef ecosystem, ranging from inshore fringing reefs to mid-shelf reefs and exposed outer reefs and all stages of reef development.

The GBR marine park and adjoining GBR Coast Marine Park are zoned to allow for a wide range of reasonable uses while ensuring overall protection, with conservation being the primary aim.

The zoning spectrum provides for increasing levels of protection for the core conservation areas which comprise the 115000 square kilometres of ‘no-take and no entry” zones of GBR.

3. Mt. Everest, Nepal: -

Mount Everest is the Earth’s highest mountain in the world. It is located above the sea level located in the Mahlangur Himal subrange of the Himalayas. This is the Natural Beauty of the wonderful earth.

It is 29029.24 feet (8848.11) metres. In the 19th century, the mountain was named after George Everest, a former surveyor of Govt. of INDIA.

The most common Tibetan name, Chomolungma, means “Goddess Mother of the World” or “Goddess of the Valley”. In Sanskrit name, Sagarmatha means literally “Peak of Heaven”.It is the beautiful nature wonder of the earth.

New Zeeland Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norway were the first to summit Mount Everest in 1953. As of 2017, more than 7600 people have reached the top of the mountains.

Climbing Mount Everest is very popular expedition for mountain climbers in Himalayas.. Climbing Everest requires a lot of experience mountaineering elsewhere, as well as a certificate of good health, equipment and a Trained Nepalese guide.

The snow and ice on the mountain create deadly hazards like avalanches and bad weather conditions. The area above 8000-meter (26000feet) elevation on Everest is called the “death zone”.

Due to the incredible altitude of Mount Everest, the highest point on earth at 29029 feet, there is amazing animal diversity. Few things can survive on the mountain’s oxygen-deprived peak, many species thrive at lower altitudes.

Snow Leopard and Himalayan Black bear are found in forested areas of Mount Everest, all the way up to an elevation of about 14000 feet.

Himalayan Thar is a small goat-like mammal that is found 16000 feet in the alpine and subalpine regions of Himalayans. Himalayan Goral is found throughout the Himalayas. Red pandas are also rare in highly visited areas of Mount Everest.

Himalayan Mountains, the natural beauty of Everest is unrivalled. Incredibly all 14 of the world’s peaks measuring over 8000 meters can be found in this area.

Mount Everest is an old mountain and is almost 60 million years old. It was formed when the Indian continental plates crashed into Asia. The Indian plates pushed Asia from beneath and raised a big landmass upwards thus creating the Himalayan range.

Mount Everest has a 2 O clock rule for climbing. Climbers are advised to get to the summit by 2 pm.

Because it is too cold and the weather is unpredictable. If someone does not get able to get to the top by 2 pm, then they are advised to return so that they are not caught in a dead zone.

The Height of Mount Everest is a lot and the severe climate is incapable of creating sustainable conditions for human life. Even helicopters cannot fly to the summit.

But the valleys just below the mountain are inhabited by the Sherpas. They have villages at an elevation of up to 4270 meters.

4. GrandPrismatic Spring, Yellowstone, Wyoming: -

Grand Prismatic is located in the Midway Geyser Basin geothermal area, halfway between Madison Junction and Old faithful, along the Firehole River. This is the Natural Beauty of the wonderful earth.

Grand Prismatic is deeper than 10 story Building. The extremely hot water travels 121 feet from the crack in the Earth to reach the surface of the spring. It is the beautiful nature wonder of the earth.

It is the third-largest spring in the world. Grand Prismatic is bigger than a football field at 370 feet in diameter.

The hot spring has bright bands of orange, yellow and green ringing the deep blue water in the spring. The multi coloured layers get their hues from different species of thermophile (heat-loving) bacteria living in the progressively cooler water around the spring.

Yellowstone’s Midway Geyser Basin may be small, but it packs a big punch. In addition to Grand Prismatic Spring, Excelsior Geyser is an enormous geyser crater.

Turquoise Pool, and opal Pool. You can get close by strolling across the Firehole River and along the short boardwalk that snakes through the thermal area. Be sure to stay on the boardwalk, it is illegal and very dangerous to walk in the geyser basin.

The area around the Grand Prismatic Spring is virtually void of trees or any kind of shade.

That is not just a problem for tourists, it is also a challenge for Synechococcus. There is no escaping the sun, and at the high elevation of Yellowstone, the ultraviolet light from the sun’s rays becomes extremely harsh.

Even though they are living in too exposed and too hot water, synchronous manage to survive through a balance of photosynthetic pigments -a chemical compound that reflects not only certain wavelengths of visible lights making them appear in various colours. The primary pigments for photosynthesis are chlorophyll, which we see as green.

Grand Prismatic Spring is roughly 300 feet in diameter with water at a blistering 160-degree Fahrenheit. This beautiful natural attraction in Yellowstone is known and named for its dazzling array of colours that change throughout the seasons.

5. Galapagos Island: -

Galapagos Island is situated in the Pacific Ocean of some 1000 Km. from the South American Continent. These 19 islands and the surrounding marine reserve have been called a unique “Living Museum” and showcase of evolution.

It is located at the confluence of the three ocean currents, the Galapagos are a melting pot of marine species. The ongoing seismic and volcanic activity reflects the processes that formed the islands. It is the beautiful nature wonder of the earth. This is the Natural Beauty of the wonderful earth.

These processes, together with the extreme isolation of the islands led to the development of unusual animal life, such as the land iguana, the giant tortoise and many types of finches.

The Galapagos Islands area is situated in the Pacific Ocean some 1000km from the Ecuadorian coast.

This archipelago and its immense marine reserve are known as the unique living museum and showcase of evolution. Its geographical location at the confluence of the three ocean currents makes it one of the richest marine ecosystems in the world.

The Galapagos Marine Reserve is an underwater wildlife spectacle with abundant life ranging from corals to sharks to penguins to marine mammals.
